Manuka honey is extracted from the plant Leptospermum scoparium, found in New Zealand. The white-flowered plant blooms in spring and attracts bees with its strong scent. Manuka honey is a 100% natural food with a strong antibacterial component and is active for the body.
Its consumption has positive effects on digestive problems, wound care, winter protection, oral care and general well-being. Research at the University of Dresden has shown that a minimum concentration of 100 mg/kg body weight of dietary methylglyoxal (the active ingredient in manuka honey) is required to achieve the desired effect. This beneficial effect has not been demonstrated in its natural state by any other substance known on Earth.
Consumption: 1 teaspoon (about 5 g) of honey three times a day, 30 minutes before meals. Honey intake may be increased if necessary.
